Butterfield Creek hales from Chicago's southland. We're a compact 4-piece (no drums) featuring quality musicianship on guitars, banjo, upright bass, and mandolin backing AMAZING Rachel Lewis on lead vocals and adding some percussion from time to time.

Under the umbrella of Americana music, we include acoustic renditions of rock/pop classics and off-the-beaten-track favorites. We add a few traditional bluegrass numbers, some new-grass and a few classic country songs. For good measure, we throw in a smattering of hooky originals that fans request the most.

Of course, Butterfield Creek plays traditional venues (restaurants, breweries/wineries) and various festivals, but we also play apple orchards, farmer's markets, listening rooms and private events.

We're passionate about music, but we are equally inspired by the role music plays as a historical and cultural marker, as well as being a medium for storytelling. As such, Butterfield Creek welcomes opportunities to perform and educate at settings like libraries and cultural centers. We work  with these venues to curate an event that's ideal for the setting.
